Hills Bar and Restaurant Review

Last week, I was lucky enough to be invited to The Hills Bar and Restaurant at Castlereagh Hills Golf Club near Belfast to sample their new menu.

The restaurant area was a beautifully relaxing environment with an impressive wine list and plenty of choice on the food menu too. The waiting staff and chef were extremely welcoming and helpful. The bar and restaurant area boasts beautiful views across the golf course and even had a balcony area overlooking the course. Unfortunately, it was pouring with rain the day we were there (no surprise - this is Northern Ireland!!) so we’re unable to make use of it.

I chose the Grilled Chicken Caesar salad with a glass of the house white: Campo del Moro - a Spanish blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Macabeo. The salad was delicious with plenty of succulent chicken, parmesan cheese, bacon, fresh crispy lettuce and a nice garlic Caesar dressing. The wine was pleasant too - refreshing and easy drinking with flavours of green apple and apricot.

My husband chose the chicken burger. Once again, a tasty piece of chicken served in a bun with salad, chunky chips and a deliciously creamy coleslaw. He chose the Saint Marc Reserve Merlot from the Languedoc region in Southern France. Once again, this was a simple, but easy drinking and fruity wine with flavours of plums and blackberries and just a gentle hint of spice.

We were also very fortunate to sample some of the yummy traybakes too - so good that we even brought some home for the kids. The Caramel Slice was absolutely delicious and the Fifteen (if you’re from Northern Ireland you’ll understand - if not, you need to try this!!) was incredible too.

Thank you so much Hills Bar and Restaurant for a great lunch. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the area.
